Now in their seventh year, The Cambridge Independent Science and Technology Awards took place on May 16th, 2024, at Hixton Hall Conference Centre, Wellcome Genome Campus. The awards recognise and celebrate the vast breadth of talent in the region of Cambridge. The Cambridge cluster is ranked global #1 for the most intensive science and technology activity (2023 Global Innovation Index). The cluster currently comprises more than 5,300 knowledge-Intensive companies operating in a diverse range of market sectors, from Life Sciences to Advanced Manufacturing, to IoT.
The awards ceremony, which featured 15 categories such as Researcher of the Year and Tech for Good, showcased the impressive talent across the Cambridge region. Ninety companies were nominated, underscoring the area's extensive contributions to science and technology. This recognition of Alchemie highlights the company's role in advancing sustainable solutions within the textile dyeing and finishing industry.
The Cleantech Company of the Year award, sponsored by Woodfines Solicitors, acknowledges a decade of Alchemieβs dedication to creating more sustainable solutions for the textile industry. Nathan Taylor-Allkins, Partner at Woodfines Solicitors, stated,

Earlier this year, Alchemie launched its low carbon digital textile dyeing production system, Endeavourβ’, and inaugurated its first demonstration and production facility in Taiwan. Alchemieβs digital liquid application solution significantly reduces energy consumption by up to 85% and decreases wastewater by over 95%, marking a substantial advancement in sustainable textile manufacturing.
The global fashion industry, a colossal entity, is responsible for a staggering 2.1 billion metric tons of carbon emissions, accounting for over 3% of the world's total.
